April 14: PALM SUNDAY: Worship service at 9:00 AM. We cry “Hosanna,” waving palm fronds as the crowds did for Jesus in Jerusalem; the sermon puts us in the story, as we read aloud from the Gospel of Luke. April 18: MAUNDY THURSDAY The 7:00 PM service celebration of Holy Communion begins with the confession of sin and the invitation to come forward for individual absolution. The altar is stripped at the conclusion of the service, during the singing of Psalm 22, just as Christ was stripped of his power and glory. April 19: GOOD FRIDAY The 7:00 PM service of shadows, “The Darkness Deepens,” centers on the hymn, “Abide with Me.” The passion story is read from the gospel of John. As Jesus moves toward his death, candles are gradually extinguished. After a loud noise reminding us of the closing of the tomb, the service ends in silence and darkness, except for the flame of one candle, carried out of sight. We wait for new life and light. April 21: EASTER SUNRISE at 6:30 a.m. This will be a short service, rejoicing that Christ is risen for you, for me, for the sake of the world! Holy Communion will not be offered at this service. We'll dismiss to the Easter breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt. April 21: EASTER FESTIVAL WORSHIP at 9 a.m. This will be a high festival worship service -- again rejoicing that Christ is risen! Holy Communion will be offered at this service. Come, join the celebration!
Lenten Services begin on March 6 Join us each Wednesday at 6:00 for Soup and Sandwiches and then at 7:00 pm for our Lenten services.
Sharing for Grace and Peace’s Food Pantry Here at Grace and Peace Lutheran Church we run a non for profit pantry Called the mission of Grace, which provides food to our community at no cost. Currently our donations are not enough to keep up with the demand. We are in great need of canned goods, and dry cereal. Also, a donation of $8 gets us 50lbs of meat from the Tri-state food bank! Would you be willing to post the flier attached and send to your organization? Also, I can drop off a box for donations.
